Welcome to Starfish Family Services

The first five years – just 1,825 days – of a child’s life are so critical, that they will largely determine his emotional, social, and intellectual well being for the rest of his life.

Our goal at Starfish is to make the prenatal to preschool years all that they can and should be for the most vulnerable children so that all children start school ready to succeed.

Our home-based community of Inkster, Michigan ranks highest in our service area of western Wayne County for family stress, infant mortality and risk for maternal and infant well-being. That’s why Starfish is launching a three-year strategy for change, the Inkster Early Childhood Plan with the 2015 vision that all Inkster children start school ready to succeed.

For 48 years, Starfish Family Services has been serving vulnerable children and families in our community. Our programs and services provide the resources, education and support they need to stabilize and strengthen the family environment and create healthy, lasting parent-child relationships.

Thanks to all of you, Starfish Family Services has reached our Challenge goal! Your gifts totaling $100,000 have qualified us for an additional $50,000 grant from the Community Foundation Challenge – Emergency Food and Shelter. These funds are helping our most vulnerable children and families access the resources they need to grow and thrive. Although the matching program is complete, you may continue providing this vital support to Starfish families through your donations. Thank you!
