What is the program?
Starfish Head Start offers free preschool for income eligible children to prepare them for Kindergarten and school success.
In addition to pre-Kindergarten programs, Head Start supports the entire family with nutritional, medical, dental, mental health and social services.
Who can participate?
Three-and four-year-old children from families who receive SSI or DHS cash grants and/or DHS child care reimbursement, and families that meet income guidelines. Children with disabilities and foster children are also eligible.
Where and when does the program take place?
Part-day and full-day classes are available at most Starfish Family Services locations.
Part-Day/Part-Year: Monday-Thursday, September-June, A.M. and P.M. sessions (Hours vary by location) Limited bus service for part-day children only at identified sites
Full-Day/Part-Year: All-day classes that run until June are available at all sites. Monday-Friday, September-June 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Extended full-day sessions: All-day classes that run through the summer are located at the Inkster-Hiveley and Livonia Jubilee Christian Head Start sites.
Monday-Friday, June-August 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
