Parent Empowerment Programs

What is the program?
Parent Empowerment provides parent training through a monthly series of workshops and additional “booster sessions” to help parents better understand their role as their child’s best teacher, the process of raising children, and how their parenting has a powerful effect on a child’s life chances, including academic and social success. Free child care and meals are provided at each monthly session.
Instruction is provided by nationally-renowned early childhood expert Bob Sornson, Ph.D., who is founder and director of the Early Learning Foundation and a published author of parenting books through the Love & Logic Institute.
Who can participate?
Any child care giver already enrolled in a Starfish program, or income-eligible families with at least one child under the age of 5 years old.
Where and when does the program take place?
Monthly classes take place at Starfish Family Services, 30000 Hiveley Road in Inkster.
